There
was
no
pause,
no
pity,
no
peace,
no
interval
of
relenting
rest,
no
measurement
of
time.
Though
days
and
nights
circled
as
regularly
as
when
time
was
young,
and
the
evening
and
morning
were
the
first
day,
other
count
of
time
there
was
none.
Hold
of
it
was
lost
in
the
raging
fever
of
a
nation,
as
it
is
in
the
fever
of
one
patient.
But,
the
glorious
sun,
rising,
seemed
to
strike
those
words,
that
burden
of
the
night,
straight
and
warm
to
his
heart
in
its
long
bright
rays.
And
looking
along
them,
with
reverently
shaded
eyes,
a
bridge
of
light
appeared
to
span
the
air
between
him
and
the
sun,
while
the
river
sparkled
under
it.

Frequently asked questions

WPM and accuracy answers for this 20 minutes typing speed test.

What does this 20 minutes typing speed test measure?

This free 20 minutes typing test measures your words per minute (WPM) and typing accuracy. WPM uses correctly typed characters divided by 5, then by elapsed minutes. Start typing to begin — no signup required — and get results when the timer ends.

What is a good WPM and accuracy score?

A 2018 study of 168,000 online volunteers reported a mean of about 52 WPM (Dhakal et al., CHI 2018). TypingGuild's practice targets are 30 WPM (beginner), 40 WPM (practice goal), and 60 WPM (advanced). Aim for high accuracy first, then raise speed with consistent retesting at the same duration.

Why take a 20 minutes typing test?

A 20 minutes session gives you a timed WPM and accuracy measurement you can repeat later for comparison. Retake it regularly to track your own progress, or try other durations when you want a shorter warm-up or a longer session.
