Not everything online is true. Before you trust or share a claim, ask a few questions. Who wrote it, and what do they know about the topic? When was it published? Does it link to its sources? Look for the same fact on two or three trusted sites, such as a library database, a government site ending in .gov or a well-known news outlet. Be careful with posts that make you feel angry or scared; they are built to spread fast, not to inform.
